About Dr. Richard Horowitz

Dr. Horowitz is known as an incomparable diagnostician. His training in internal medicine and nephrology (kidneys) has made him uncommonly sophisticated in diagnosis, treatment, and preventive care for his patients. He offers personalized service and follows his own patients during any hospital stays. He does not use hospitalists, nurse practitioners or other “physician extenders” like many other practices. This continuity of care is ever important in the efficient, cost effective and successful treatment of acute and decompensated chronic conditions. His office is conveniently located in the heart of Beverly Hills.

PHILOSOPHY

In today’s medical environment it is extremely rare to find the level of comprehensive service I provide. It is concierge level medicine without costly retainers and at a reasonable fee for service price. Patients never feel rushed. I spend as much time as necessary with each patient and listen carefully to their physical, emotional and social needs in order to best create an effective individualized treatment and proactive health management strategy.

I am committed to practicing the highest quality cutting edge medicine. I develop a personalized preventive care/health improvement management plan for patients based on their personal needs and genetic profile. I also incorporate a multi-disciplinary approach to risk avoidance and clinical treatment that includes Western medicine and, at a patient’s request, alternative approaches such as: Eastern medicine, naturopathy, homeopathy, molecular medicine, biofeedback and cognitive behavioral therapy. As such, I have a broad array of multidisciplinary consultants to draw from in order to provide the most comprehensive expert care possible. Patients with emergencies are almost always seen the same day.

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Horowitz received his medical education in Europe, at the Faculte de Medecine de Francois Rabelais in France, where physical diagnosis is renown. Internal medicine residency was completed at The Mount Sinai City Hospital Center in New York City. Fellowship in Nephrology was at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Center for Health Sciences and affiliated hospitals.

He has participated on or chaired numerous hospital committees for bioethics, credentialing, physician monitoring and departmental quality improvement. He is a past Chairman of the Department of Medicine and former Chief of Staff at Brotman Medical Center. He served on the clinical faculty at UCLA Center for Health Sciences, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Harbor – UCLA Medical Center, and the Wadsworth VA Medical Center. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a distinction reserved for those internists who have demonstrated superior academic commitments and teaching skills.

Dr. Horowitz is the recipient of the Cedars-Sinai Distinguished Physicians Award, and was inducted into the Circle of Friends of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He is a past nominee for the Cedars-Sinai Humanitarian Award.
